Bräutigam Eiche in Eutin, Schleswig Holstein

Natürlich gibt es eine Geschichte zu dieser 500 Jahre alten Eiche. Es ist ein Baum der Liebe, an dem ein Liebespaar Liebesbriefe hinterlassen hat. Am Ende hat sich diese "unmögliche" Liebe erfüllt. Der Baum wurde zu einer Berühmtheit und erhielt viele Liebesbriefe auch von anderen Menschen. Die Post hat dann irgendwann dem Baum eine Postadresse gegeben. Seit über 90 Jahren stellt die Post dem Baum nun Liebesbriefe zu - mittlerweile über 1000 Liebesbriefe im Jahr. 

Unser Mitglied Armin Rauser wird am Tag des Baumes, 25. April 2024 Geschichten unter einer alten Kastanie erzählen. Vielleicht habt ihr auch einen besondern Baum in der Nähe und ihr wollt dort ein paar Menschen zum Lauschen einladen.

Groom oak, Eutin, Schleswig Holstein 

Of course there is a story behind this 500-year-old oak tree. It is a tree of love, on which a couple left love letters. In the end, this impossible love was fulfilled. The tree became a celebrity and received many love letters from other people. At some point, the tree was give a postal address. The post office has been sending love letters to the tree for over 90 years - now over 1000 love letters a year.  

Our member Armin Rauser will be telling stories under an old chestnut tree on the Day of the Tree, 25 April 2024. Perhaps you have a special tree nearby and would like to invite a few people to listen.

Wir haben 1600 Menschen, vor allem Kinder, durch verschiedene Projekt und Angebote erreicht: 

Erzählen bildet Sprache 2023, Internationales Erzähkarussell, Worte mit Flügeln, Benefizveranstaltung für das Erdbebengebiet an der Türksich/Syrischen Grenze, Online Fortbildung für syrische Lehrer:innen, Parzifal Seminar und durch die Fortbildung: „Märchen als Brücke zwischen den Kulturen?“

Wir hatten viele Fürsprecher und konnten u.a. durch Spenden das ein oder andere finanziell unterstützen.

We reached 1600 people, mainly children, through various projects and programmes: 

Storytelling Builds Language 2023, International Storytelling Carousel, Words with Wings, Benefit event for the earthquake area on the Turkish/Syrian border, Online training for Syrian teachers, Parzifal seminar and through the training course: "Fairy tales as a bridge between cultures?"

We had many advocates and were able to support one or the other financially through donations.

Hospice Work 

Our member Armin Rauser is involved in the Sternentraum Children's Hospice Service in Weissach im Tal, where he will accompany children through difficult times with stories.

Wir freuen uns, dass diese Projekte aus dem letzten Jahr erfolgreich durchgeführt wurden und sich in diesem Jahr verstetigen und es eine Anschlussfinanzierung gibt.

The workshop is free of charge for our members.

Every two years a workshop is linked to our general meeting and is held in person and online the other year. 

The Future: Staying here - together!

How can we stay here, on earth, together as humans? Where do we find ideas in the arts to make this possible? Perhaps there is an opening in Shakespeare's The Tempest when Prospero sees himself accepting his limitations and wants to cooperate with the forces of nature instead of manipulating them. Fears are what put us humans in the position that make the above questions relevant. They should not however trigger disaster.

As a storyteller I try to find regenerative moments in storytelling. If storytelling was regenerative agriculture, we would be completely focused on how a mix (diversity) of crops could nourish us and the soil by as little interference as possible. We would also be fully concerned with the diversity that would make and maintain its resilience sufficiently and not stressing it through chemicals and monoculture. 

If we connect this to storytelling we find that storytelling can also concentrate on what is already there. The audience is therefore the land we nourish and are nourished by. By being rewarding and stimulating to what already wants to be nourished, the audience, there is an opportunity to create conditions for fertile and common ground. The existing growth potentials in the listener and the storyteller are given a space in which it can emerge.

For the past 20 years some people in Narrative Theatre have worked hard to see what is possible with what is already there - and this is not a small matter. If a person entering the stage shows him/herself in a permeable fashion a fertile ground is offered for everybody, supports curiosity in the best sense and attentive watching for what the person has to offer. Showing yourself with a certain degree of complexity and open questions people can attach easily as it offers the possibility to connect and be in a collective mindset.  

It seems worth investigating if working rewardingly both with our land and with each other real opportunities could arise to stay on earth in a mutual co-existence on the long term.

Storytelling is also called „the smallest form of theater“ because it relies on imagining something together without props. Therefore, storytelling offers the possibility to create an universe based solely on human resources and energies of the storyteller and the audience. The Story Play model that I have developed over years uses these resources with the participants. When we work with "to do" or "to act" stories in Story Play a performance universe opens up displaying the basic elements of theater.

Such created universes based on a collective knowledge, cooperation and mutual relationships are of regenerative material and inherent moments that can give us an apprehension for a mutual future.
